Having grown up in Utah, I have experienced many frigid mornings marked by the quiet beauty of sunrise, especially during snowstorms. Time spent in the mountains—often in harsh conditions—has revealed a deeper, more elemental beauty in the landscape.
This print depicts two snowboarders silhouetted against the rising sun, their forms contrasted by a ski lift tower in the foreground that guides the viewer’s eye toward the subject. A cool, subdued color palette emphasizes the cold atmosphere, while soft, diffused hues evoke the way light is filtered through falling snow. This same effect creates a sense of depth, as distant forms dissolve into the hazy, light-filled air.
