This print depicts Saint Nicholas Church in Prague, Czech Republic, inspired by my visit to the city in 2025. Located in the Malá Strana (Lesser Town), the church was built by the Jesuit Order beginning in 1704 and stands as a striking example of High Baroque architecture. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart once performed concerts on its organ, and the interior frescoes were created by Johann Lukas Kracker. Following the suppression of the Jesuits in 1773, the building was converted into a parish church, and during the Napoleonic Wars it served as a field hospital.
This work reflects my approach to landscape painting through an impressionistic study of light as it moves through the atmosphere and across surfaces. The narrow composition creates an intimate sense of place, capturing the layered history of Prague as it resonates through the shimmering stucco facades.
