Solstice, 2026
8×10 inch Giclle Print with a one inch border around the painted image. The print is taken from my watercolor painting entitled Solstice, 2023.
This giclee print is from a watercolor study of a young woman illuminated by bright light explores the subtle use of shading and color to describe form. Delicate tonal transitions allow the anatomy to emerge gradually from light, giving the skin a soft, translucent quality that suggests living flesh beneath a very delicate surface.
The figure’s luminosity contrasts with the dark, thick, luxurious background, which isolates her within the composition and perhaps from the viewer as well. This stark opposition between light and void emphasizes the fragility of the subject, as the softly rendered body appears exposed against the surrounding obscurity. Through this interplay of light, color, and space, the painting conveys a quiet sense of vulnerability.
